Which Period Product Fits You?
By the eva team · · 1 min read
Pads, period underwear, tampons and menstrual cups manage period flow in different ways. Pads and period underwear absorb flow after it leaves the body, while tampons absorb and cups collect it inside the vagina. There is no single product that suits everyone—you can choose based on your comfort, flow, activities and ability to use and clean the product safely.
1. Which Period Product Is Right For You?
There is no single “best” period product. You may prefer one option for school, another for sleeping and a different one for swimming or sports. The right choice is the product that feels comfortable, manageable and suitable for your routine.
2. Pads: Simple And External
Pads attach to the inside of your underwear and absorb period flow after it leaves the vagina. They are available in different sizes and absorbencies, including options designed for lighter flow, heavier flow and overnight use.
3. Period Underwear: Protection You Can Wear
Period underwear has built-in absorbent layers and is worn like ordinary underwear. Some people use it by itself, while others combine it with another product for extra protection. Reusable options should be washed and cared for according to their instructions.
4. Tampons: Absorb Flow Inside The Vagina
A tampon is inserted into the vagina, where it absorbs menstrual flow. Use the lowest absorbency that manages your flow, wash your hands before and after insertion, and change each tampon every four to eight hours. Never leave one tampon in for longer than eight hours.
5. Menstrual Cups: Collect Rather Than Absorb
A menstrual cup is a small flexible cup inserted into the vagina to collect period flow. It is removed, emptied and cleaned before being used again. Cup shapes, sizes and care instructions can differ, so follow the directions supplied with the product.
6. Choose For Your Body And Your Routine
Think about your flow, comfort, school day, sleep, sports, swimming, access to a private bathroom and whether the product needs washing or insertion. You can change products as your needs change, and some products can be used together. Always follow the instructions included with the product.
