Pad On, Stress Off

Using a pad for the first time can feel confusing, but it is actually quite simple. Learn how to place a pad correctly, when to change it, and how to stay comfortable and fresh throughout your period.
1. First Time Using A Pad? You've Got This
If you're having your first period, a pad can be one of the easiest products to start with. It sits inside your underwear and absorbs menstrual blood, helping you stay protected throughout the day.
2. Step 1: Start With Clean Underwear
Before putting on a new pad, make sure you're wearing clean, comfortable underwear. Choose underwear that fits well so the pad can stay securely in place.
3. Step 2: Peel Off The Backing
Open the pad wrapper and carefully peel away the protective backing from the adhesive side. If your pad has wings, remove the backing from those too.
4. Step 3: Place It In The Centre
Place the adhesive side of the pad onto the inside centre of your underwear. The wider part usually goes toward the back. Press it down gently so it sticks securely.
5. Step 4: Wings? Fold Them Under
If your pad has wings, fold them around the sides of your underwear and press them underneath. They help keep the pad in place and can provide extra protection from leaks.
6. Change Your Pad Regularly
Change your pad regularly, even if it isn't completely full. How often you need to change it depends on your flow, but changing it when it feels wet, full or uncomfortable can help you stay fresh and comfortable.
7. Wrap It. Bin It.
When you're finished with a used pad, wrap it securely in its wrapper or toilet paper and place it in a bin. Never flush a pad down the toilet—it can block pipes and cause plumbing problems.
