Find Your Bra Size at Home
By the eva team · · 1 min read
You do not need a perfect measurement to begin choosing a bra. A simple home measurement can give you a useful starting point, especially while your body is still developing. Learn how to measure your band and bust, how to use those numbers as a guide and why comfort matters more than chasing one exact size.
1. You Only Need A Starting Size
Bra sizing can feel confusing, but you do not need to get it perfect the first time. A simple home measurement gives you a starting point, and you can adjust from there based on how the bra actually feels on your body.
2. Measure Under The Bust First
Start by measuring around your ribcage, just under your breasts. Keep the tape snug but not painfully tight, and make sure it stays level all the way around. This measurement helps you estimate your band size.
3. Then Measure Around The Fullest Part
Next, measure around the fullest part of your chest. Keep the tape comfortably level and avoid pulling it too tight. This second measurement helps you estimate cup size when compared with the first one.
4. Use The Numbers As A Guide Not A Rule
Your two measurements can help you estimate a starting size, but sizing is not identical in every brand or style. One bra may feel perfect while another in the same labelled size feels too tight or too loose. That is why comfort matters more than the tag alone.
5. The Fit Matters More Than The Label
A comfortable bra should feel supportive without digging in. The band should sit evenly, the straps should not slip or press painfully and the fabric should lie smoothly under clothing. If the bra pinches, gaps or rides up, try another size or style.
6. Your Size Can Change As You Grow
During puberty, breast development continues and your bra size may change. Re-measuring from time to time can help, especially if a bra starts feeling tight, loose or uncomfortable. Your goal is not a perfect number it is a bra that feels right on your body today.
